Sugarcane Molasses

Sugarcane molasses is a thick, dark syrup obtained as a by-product during the sugar refining process from sugarcane juice. It is rich in natural sugars, minerals, and nutrients, making it widely used in food, animal feed, fermentation, and industrial applications.

Production Process

Sugarcane molasses is produced by boiling sugarcane juice to crystallize sugar. After sugar crystals are removed, the remaining concentrated syrup is molasses. The quality and nutrient content depend on the number of boiling cycles.

Types of Sugarcane Molasses

  • Light Molasses:
  • Mild flavor and lighter color, obtained from the first boiling.
  • Dark Molasses:
  • Richer taste and darker appearance, produced after the second boiling.
  • Blackstrap Molasses:
  • The most concentrated form, obtained from the third boiling, with the highest mineral content and strong flavor.

Nutritional Highlights

Sugarcane molasses contains essential minerals, including:

  • Iron

  • Calcium

  • Magnesium

  • Potassium

  • Phosphorus

It also provides natural carbohydrates for quick energy.

Key Characteristics
